About the event

Ever wondered why some plastics melt, others become brittle, and some shouldn't be heated at all? Join EcoPress Sacramento for an introductory look at the science of melting and reshaping plastic!

In this educational, in-person workshop, we'll explore the material science behind plastic recycling, including thermoplastics vs. thermosets, resin identification codes (#1–#7), melting temperatures, material properties, and what happens to plastic at different stages of heating.

Participants will learn why understanding plastic type matters, how temperature affects material behavior, and how recycled plastics can be transformed into new functional and creative products.
